



Labor-Intensive Infrastructure and Community Development Projects

The Egyptian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency has implemented the project “Addressing the Root Causes of Irregular Migration through Employability and Labour-Intensive Works” since 2022.
This study tour is designed to support MSMEDA in obtaining strategic insights on the core areas of work of the programme, namely employability and entrepreneurship, employment intensive investment, and community development initiatives, in the framework of labour migration.
OBJECTIVES
This study tour is designed to:
Enhance knowledge and skills in small and medium enterprise development and entrepreneurship to better support Egyptian youth in creating sustainable businesses
Gain strategic insights on labour migration management to address the root causes of irregular migration more effectively.
Develop expertise in employment-intensive investment techniques to create short and medium-term job opportunities in target areas.
Learn best practices for implementing community-based infrastructure and service projects to improve living conditions in migration-prone regions.
Explore innovative approaches to skills development and training programs that facilitate youth access to self-employment.
Strengthen capacity to design and manage projects that address the economic and social factors contributing to irregular migration.
Network with international experts and peers to exchange experiences and ideas on tackling irregular migration through economic development initiatives.
Gain insights into monitoring and evaluation techniques for assessing the impact of interventions on reducing irregular migration and improving local economic conditions.
CONTENT
The Study tour was implemented over 4.5 days – with each day dedicated to a specific topic, as follows:
