Multinational enterprises, development and decent work: the approach of the MNE Declaration

The 4-week online course looked at the potential of enterprises to contribute to the achievement of decent work for all, a universal goal recognized in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It provided a comprehensive introduction to the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration), and touched upon issues related to Business and Decent Work, Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), sustainable investment and trade and social dialogue amongst others. OBJECTIVES Participants got up-to-date information: • How the MNE Declaration can support governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations in their policies and strategies to encourage the positive contribution of business to decent work and minimize and resolve potential negative impacts of business operations • What is the aim, approach, principles and operational tools of the ILO MNE Declaration • What actions governments, employers’ and work CONTENT The course consists of the following components: • Self-guided learning: Flexible self-guided online learning on eCampus, anytime and anywhere. • ‘Real time’ learning: Technical learning webinar and engaging video presentations by highly experienced trainers are programmed twice a week. These sessions provide for an opportunity to interact with experts and co-participants directly. NUMBER OF HOURS: 36
