This 5-week eLearning journey provides the basic knowledge and guidance in understanding why gender equality matters, particularly in this new COVID-19 era. Block 1 analyses why there is a need for change while Block 2 illustrates tools and strategies for gender mainstreaming with the final goal of supporting Gender Focal Points to be ‘Agents of Change’ and to make change happen.
OBJECTIVES
The course guides UN Gender Focal Points in exploring strategies and tools for identifying and addressing obstacles to gender equality and the empowerment of women in their context. It explores gender-centred tools to promote equality and decent work for all in the ‘new Era’ and orients participants in their concrete application.
CONTENT
This 5-week course includes 30 learning hours as follows:
o Block 1 (2-15 Nov 2020): The need of change (2 weeks / 10 hours)
- Know the facts about gender equality
- The international framework for gender equality
- Gender equality in the UN System
o Block 2 (16 Nov – 4 Dec 2020): Make change happen (3 weeks / 20 hours)
- Leading the change
- Managing resistance

ACHIEVEMENT
At the end of the eLearning journey, participants are able to:
o Recognise gender inequalities within organizations, especially after COVID-19 impact
o Employ the international legal framework to strengthen gender equality and the empowerment of women within UN entities, supporting organizations in the achievement of the UN targets
o Manage and apply strategies and tools to efficiently mainstream gender equality and the empowerment of women within UN organization in the ‘new Era’ post COVID-19
o Design an organizational strategy for change capable to overcome resistances
o Conceive an individual and concrete action plan aimed to strengthen gender equality and the empowerment of women to be immediately implemented in their organizations
