The Academy is a comprehensive training programme aimed at an improved unions’ involvement in sustainable development frameworks and processes.
It combined face to face training in Beirut with live webinars and asynchronous learning through a multimedia learning content and assignments on the e-campus.
OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of the Academy, the participants will be able to:
- Have a clear understanding of theoretical frameworks and practical issues linked to sustainable development
- Contribute to the integration of trade union SDG priorities in the national agenda
- Familiarize themselves with the content and processes related to the national UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and identify entry points for trade union involvement
- Integrate trade union SDG priorities in national assessment and situation report such as the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) in line with national development plans
- Engage with government agencies in charge of design and implementation of national development plans, as well as inclusion in national multi-stakeholder platforms on sustainable development and other relevant platforms
- Engage with UN resident coordinator and influence the UN Cooperation Framework at national level
- Prepare well informed trade union position papers on sustainable development as tools for advocacy with government and international development institutions at national level

The Academy consisted of live webinars and face to face sessions that covered the following topics:

- Trade Unions' Engagement in UN Processes
- Progress in the Implementation of SDG 8
- Boosting Trade Union Action for Climate Justice
- Promoting Labour Rights for Fair Economies and Societies
- Ways to Improve Social Protection Systems Using the SDGs
- Youth Action for SDGs
- Achieving Women’s Equal Leadership and Economic Inclusion
- Solidarity and Dialogue for Peace and Social Justice
