The course on Decent Work, Please and Resilience equipped trade union representatives from Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Poland with key knowledge and expertise on how to use the ILO Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience Recommendation, 2017 (No. 205), offering guidance on creating employment opportunities and promoting decent work during crisis situations caused by conflicts and disasters. The course was delivered in a blended modality and consisted of 4 live webinars and 3 days of face-to-face training, complemented by online assignments on the eCampus.
This training applied a highly participatory and practical approach using active training methods, which encouraged the participants to take part in discussion groups, exchange of ideas, information and good practices on selected topics.
OBJCTIVES
The main outputs of the course were the following:
• Improved knowledge on ILO Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience Recommendation, 2017 (No. 205)
• Improved skill to use the ILO training manual on Dealing with crises arising from conflicts and disasters
• Improved knowledge on the conflict and natural disaster situations and their impact on social, economic, political and environmental development based on new analytical tools and a peer-to-peer exchange of experiences and practices;
• Enhanced knowledge on the ILO’s programme on jobs for peace and resilience
CONTENT
Developed based on the ILO training manual for workers’ organizations ‘Dealing with crises arising from conflicts and disasters’, the course was structured in 5 complementary learning modules:
• Module 1. Making sense of conflicts and disasters
• Module 2. A crisis management approach
• Module 3. Sustaining peace I: Prevention and preparedness
• Module 4. Sustaining peace II: Response and recovery
• Module 5. The role of international labour standards in crisis settings
