This one-week course is designed for professionals who want to link three key topics in their work:
• International Labour Standards
• Responsible business conduct
• Human rights due diligence as described by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Participants will acquire the expertise, tools, and knowledge they need to improve their skills in the field of labour-related human rights and core elements of effective HRDD.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
• advise and lead businesses and institutions toward integrated labour rights related due diligence frameworks.
• Analyze international corporate social responsibility instruments and frameworks through the lens of the International Labour Standards.
• Optimize their organizational or company level HRDD processes to promote and respect workers’ rights in your own operations and supply chains.
• Access ILO database, tools and resources.
CONTENT
Participants will get a chance to deepen their knowledge of the key topics with the guidance of international development experts and to interact with peers and specialists from ILO and other international organizations on:
• Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, including the fundamental right to a safe and healthy working environment
• Conditions of work
• A comparative overview of leading international frameworks such as the ILO MNE Declaration, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the UN Global Compact
• Best practices in human rights due diligence by companies from different geographical, sectoral, and operational contexts
