ACADEMY ON SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

This intensive two-week experience has explored ILO’s new Strategy on Skills and Lifelong Learning for 2022-30, providing participants with ideas to shape effective policies and with best practices from all over the world. Participants have learned how to improve their skills systems in a fast-changing world of work. OBJECTIVES Participants have increased their technical knowledge to improve the functioning of their skills and lifelong learning systems. In particular, they have: • Increased their understanding of the ILO approaches to Skills and Lifelong learning, in particular for policies, governance. financing models and skills needs anticipation and matching • Gathered inputs to design evidence-based skills and lifelong learning programmes and pathways, leaving no one behind, to respond to post-COVID recovery skills challenges • Developed an in-depth knowledge of the key ILO tools and methodologies in the five pillars of the ILO Strategy on Skills and Lifelong Learning CONTENT After an initial plenary on the ILO Strategy on Skills and Lifelong Learning for 2022-30, 8 plenary sessions and 17 elective courses have focused on knowledge and skills related to the Strategy’s five pillars: • Pillar 1: Improved policies, governance and financing for effective skills development and lifelong learning • Pillar 2: Strengthened skills-needs intelligence • Pillar 3: Innovative and flexible learning programmes and pathways delivered • Pillar 4: Inclusive skills programmes for the diverse needs of labour markets ensured • Pillar 5: Quality apprenticeships and work-based learning promoted for employability, productivity and sustainable enterprises The Academy contained also a one-day Hackathon to develop new ideas to solve Policy challenges STUDY VISIT Inspiration from grassroots skills practices: presentation of the TVET system by Regione Piemonte and visit to three vocational training institutions in Turin (CNOS-FAP Valdocco, Fondazione ITS Mobilità Sostenibile, Aerospazio e Meccatronica and Piazza dei Mestieri) NUMBER OF HOURS: 57
