E-Learning course on a Systemic Approach to Skills Development

The E-Learning course on a Systemic Approach to Skills Development is part of the Skills Academy for the GCC, comprising a series of training programmes that are the result of extensive consultation and coordination work with the Council of Ministers of Labour in GCC States and the Decent Work Team of the ILO for the Arab States. The training programme has been designed to be implemented over a period of 2 weeks (from 30 October – 12 November 2022) with two modules running for one week each. OBJECTIVES The course is structured around two modules and its overall objective is to facilitate the analysis of skills development as a system. Specifically, upon completion of the course participants have: • Gained a better understanding of the ILO framework of building blocks for skills systems. • Carried on a self-evaluation of the skills systems in the GCC countries using the provided framework of building blocks • Identified possibilities of collaboration among their countries and skills systems. CONTENT This course consists of the following learning units: MODULE 1: • BUILDING BLOCK 1 - POLICIES, STRUCTURES AND RESOURCES FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT • BUILDING BLOCK 2 - ANTICIPATING, PLANNING AND MONITORING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT MODULE 3: SKILLS FOR UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD OF WORK MODULE 2: • BUILDING BLOCK 3 - DEVELOPING, CERTIFYING AND RECOGNISING SKILLS • BUILDING BLOCK 4 - IMPROVING ACCESS TO SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND THE LABOUR MARKET FOR ALL • BUILDING BLOCK 5 - SKILLS FOR EMPLOYABILITY, DECENT WORK AND PRODUCTIVITY IN THE WORKPLACE METHODOLOGY This innovative e-learning course has been designed according to a learner-centred approach in order to better involve participants and keep them motivated. It is highly interactive and engaging, using different methods throughout the two modules of the course to make the content interesting, relevant and entertaining. NUMBER OF HOURS: 15
