Promoting Social Cohesion and Peaceful Coexistence in Fragile Contexts through TVET

In this 5 weeks online course, participants learn how to strengthen the peace responsive role that TVET can play to promote social cohesion and peaceful existence in fragile settings. Participants explored the role of skills development policies and programmes in peacebuilding efforts through inclusive learning methodologies and the training of relevant core skills. This eLearning training offer is organized in close collaboration with the ILO’s Skills and Employability Branch together with the Coordination Unit for Peace and Resilience (CSPR) and addresses those that are motivated to learn how to enhance employability and build livelihood of those affected by conflicts. OBJECTIVES At the end of the program, participants achieved the following objectives: • Understood how skills and employment policies and programmes relate to peacebuilding and social cohesion • Identified core skills that contribute to social cohesion • Analysed the context and specific needs of training participants through a conflict sensitive lens • Understood how to shape peaceful narratives and promoting enabling learning environment • Understood how to design and implement conflict-sensitive training programmes • Identified support services to facilitate trainee’s transition into the labour market • Understood how to deliver the ILO Guide on Promoting Social Cohesion and Peaceful Coexistence in Fragile Contexts through TVET to trainers CONTENT • Module 1: The role and potential of skills development in peaceful coexistence and social cohesion • Module 2: The role of the trainer in fragile environments • Module 3: Methods and cross-curricular strategies that promote core skills for social inclusion • Module 4: Work-based learning and support services to ensure participation in vocational training classes • Module 5: Training the Trainers - Incorporate social cohesion activities in training programmes ACHIEVEMENT Participants were required to complete five thematic online modules which encompassed a set of reading lessons, concrete case studies, live and interactive webinar sessions which included group exercises, forum discussions, knowledge quizzes and practical exercises based on a real-case scenario they chose at the beginning of the course. Participants who completed at least 80% of the course activities, received a Certificate of Participation. NUMBER OF HOURS: 30
