Workshop on Greening TVET and Skills Development in the Philippines

In this course, participants learn how to formulate and implement strategies that contribute to improving the employability of women and men in emerging green industries. The programme is highly hands-on and covers the key elements of the processes of greening TVET: ranging from the greening of competency standards and curriculum design, as well as the critical underpinning topic of equipping teachers and in-company trainers with the skills to design, implement and assess TVET for the green transition. OBJECTIVES At the end of the program, participants achieved the following objectives: • Assessing their current position with respect to the greening of TVET • Identifying the skills related to the green transition for new, existing and forthcoming jobs • Matching existing competency standards to new demands in the labour market for skills for green jobs • Designing curricula for the green transition • Understanding how greener curricula can be implemented through TVET provision and practice • Understanding the importance of equipping teachers and in-company trainers with the skills to design, implement and assess TVET for the green transition • Identifying methods and practices to green training for teachers and trainers CONTENT Session 1: Designing competency standards for green jobs Session 2: Developing Green Curricula Session 3: Professional development of GTVET professionals ACHIEVEMENT Participants were required to attend three thematic sessions on the topic of Greening TVET. In between the thematic sessions, the participants attended a face-to-face workshop where they were required to complete two main outputs: - An action plan with regards their current position with respect to the greening of TVET and to select their immediate priorities - An updated curricula with new elements of “greening” for their selected sector and occupation
