Under the 12th Malaysian plan, the Government of Malaysia is taking an ambitious goal of developing a comprehensive labour market information and analytics platform (LMIAP) that will consolidate national labour market data and provide a centralized analytics platform for insights on current labour market conditions and predictive analytics for future trends in labour to ensure a near perfect match between labour supply and demand.
This course was a tailor-made activity to strengthen the capacities of key Malaysian stakeholders who are directly involved in the development of LMIAP system comprising of government officers from the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), the Malaysian Bureau of Labour Statistics (MBLS), the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), TalentCorp, the Ministry of Human Resources and other officers involved with the LMIAP. Core team members have been capacitated to serve as specialists running the day-to-day operations of the LMIAP including ICT infrastructure maintenance, data analysis and predictive modelling and analysis.
OBJECTIVES
Training objectives were:
• To provide basic concepts of sectoral approaches to skills development
• To provide practical knowledge about skills anticipation
• To develop a preliminary strategy for skills anticipation in Malaysia

Module 2: Quantitative and qualitative analysis of skills mismatch and anticipation
• Approaches and methodologies

• Rapid Skill Assessment
• Skills intelligence
Module 3: Practical orientation of selected methods
• Group assignment on one of the following subjects:
o Modelling for employment projection
o Employers' skills survey questionnaire
o Sectoral visioning exercise
• Viable quantitative and qualitative assessment of future skills needs and supply in Malaysia
Module 4: Institutional mechanisms and roles of different actors for anticipation and matching
