Just Transition - Indalo Inclusive Blended Workshop

During the “Indalo Just Transition for BDS providers blended workshop”, the participant acquired a better understanding and contextualisation of the just transition concept in the framework of Indalo Inclusive’s support to green entrepreneurs in Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces in South Africa. OBJECTIVES The participant has: • Acquired a deeper understanding of the context and process of the Just Transition • Contextualized the just transition concept to green enterprise support in coal mining regions • Shared experiences and generated ideas on ways to effectively support entrepreneurs in mining communities in Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces • Discussed approaches and familiarized themselves with tools to effectively support green businesses CONTENTS The 10-day on-line training programme consisted of 6 self-guided learning modules and 4 tutored webinars. The training was delivered by a multi-disciplinary faculty from the ILO, ITC-ILO and Indalo and combined technical content with applied learning methodologies, such as group discussion and exercises. In particular, the participant covered the following topics during the training programme: • Just transition to low carbon economies and societies: the South-African Context • The definition and relevance of green businesses and green business support in the context of just transition • Fostering green business environment and the building of greener ecosystems • Knowledge and application of approaches and tools for business support, such as: SIYB, SCORE, clean production, resource efficiency and Life cycle approaches • Results chains and results measurement
