OBJECTIVES
The objective of this course was to provide participants with the key elements of a conceptual framework for the promotion of more and better jobs for inclusive green growth in the building construction sector. They acquired both the tools and the technical knowledge to be able to initiate and implement change processes at institutional and policy level.
CONTENT
The course provided insights on the concepts of green building and construction, key elements of relevant policy and regulatory frameworks such as green building codes, certification, incentive measures as well as on labour regulations, social dialogue, skills and the key elements of a conducive business environment to foster growth in the green construction sector.
The course took place online, over three weeks with a total of 30 hours of learning. The contents were delivered during live online sessions with expert lectures and group work exercises as well as through self-guided learning modules and individual assignments on the ITCILO eCampus.
ACHIEVEMENT
This course enabled participants to analyse and understand the labour and economic aspects related to green building and construction in their respective countries and communities. Participants are prepared to apply the basic concepts of green building and construction, identify key elements of relevant policy and regulatory frameworks, identify and distinguish the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders and thus develop and implement policies and strategies to actively shape a key sector of the transition to a greener, job-rich and socially just economy.
