In November 2020, H&M Group GBC AB, IndustriALL Global Union and Industrifacket Metall contacted the ILO and its training Centre seeking support to train their National Monitoring Committees (NMCs).
H&M Group and IndustriALL/IF Metall has set up NMC in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and Turkey with equal representatives of both organizations locally. The NMCs are jointly working with the Implementation of the global framework agreement in H&M Groups’ supply chain in the named countries and are also providing capacity building, as, for instance, on peaceful conflict resolution.
This training activity was organized with the objective to strengthen the capacities of NMC members so that they can in turn support primary unionized factories with capacity building around the most important blocks of industrial relations in the workplace.
OBJECTIVES
The aim of this training programme was to strengthen the capacities of NMC’s around the most important blocks of sound industrial relations at the workplace.
More specifically, at the end of this training programme, participants were be able to:
• Explain the relevant ILO legal instruments, including fundamental conventions N°87 on Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize and n°98 on the Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining, and the Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy;
• Describe the benefits of social dialogue at the workplace including collective bargaining, grievance handling and workplace cooperation;
• Explain the fundamentals principles of collective bargaining, grievance handling and workplace cooperation;
• Demonstrate an increased capacity to train worker’s and management representatives at the workplace.
