Labour issues in responsible business conduct

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, as well as the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy, reference ILS. This 2.5 day intensive course provides an in-depth introduction to labour issues related to Responsible Business Conduct. In addition, the workshop discusses the importance of policy coherence at the national level when engaging with actors from the public and private sector to advance RBC. OBJECTIVES The course will increase the knowledge and understanding of the functioning of the ILO in relation to responsible business conduct and HRDD; give greater confidence in promoting the labour provisions of the OECD Guidelines, engaging in dialogues, providing trainings, and handling specific instances which raise issues pertaining to workers’ rights. And will give a better sense of how the ILO can support the participant in the work place. CONTENT Topics covered include: • ILO’s Labour Standard system • Overview of the ILO MNE Declaration: aim, scope, objectives and operational tools • In-depth sessions and meet-the-expert sessions on labour standards and business related topics. • Policy coherence for RBC.
