Occupational Safety and Health and healthy return to work

19 - 23 April 2021 GENERAL OBJECTIVE The general objective of this course was to strengthen capacities for planning and developing national efforts to improve OSH and healthy return to work policies in times of COVID-19. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES At the end of the course, participants were able to: • Describe the main principles and concepts of the ILO strategic approach to OSH. • Describe the ILO guidelines for the OSH inspection and investigation of accidents and diseases in COVID times. • Provide guidelines for a safe and healthy return to work in times of COVID-19 that take into account the physical and psychosocial health of workers. • Provide guidelines for the prevention of psychosocial risks and the development of working environments free from violence and harassment. • Establish conclusions and recommendations on the feasibility of applying the approaches and experiences analyzed in their national and organizational contexts. CONTENT The course covered the following topics: • The Regional Initiative OSH – ILO • The ILO strategic approach to Occupational Safety and Health. (The national OSH policy, National OSH System and national OSH programme) • OSH inspection and investigation of accidents and diseases in COVID times • COVID-19 and safe and healthy return to work policies International guidelines National guidelines • Prevention of psychosocial risks. Identification of psychosocial risks Preventive measures for psychosocial risks • Work environment free from violence and harassment (Convention No. 190).
