The programme offered an applied learning opportunity to explore the theoretical, conceptual and operational frameworks for management of development from a multi-disciplinary perspective, i.e. integrating socio-economic policies with in-depth understanding of the legal, institutional, local and managerial contexts for effective planning and implementation of national development programmes and projects.
At the end of the programme, the participants were able to:
Demonstrate an interdisciplinary understanding of the context and processes of development work;
Apply acquired technical and interpersonal competencies in order to enhance the economic and social benefits of development projects and programmes;
Conceptualize and formulate a full-scale project proposal for a development initiative/project
CONTENTS and OBJECTIVES
The curriculum combined a distance-learning phase with a face-to-face component covering the following core topics:
DISTANCE LEARNING PHASE:
Introduction to Development and Sustainable Development Goals;
Introduction to Result-Based Management and Project Cycle Management;
Methods and Techniques for Data Collection and Analysis.
FACE-TO-FACE PHASE:
Environment and Sustainability;
Development, Inequality and Growth;
Human Development, Human Rights and Migrations;
Local Development and Participation;
Governance and Democracy;
Managing Complexity in development projects
Result-Based Management and Project Cycle Management: from project design to impact evaluation.
ACHIEVEMENT
The students were required to sit for the following exams:
SDGs & Tools for Development;
Human Development, Human Rights and Migration;
Development, Inequality and Growth;
Environment and Sustainability;
Local Development and Participation;
Governance and Democracy;
Result-based Management and Project Management;
Methods,Techniques and Partnership for Development;
As part of the third phase of the programme, the students will develop a specific project that will constitute their Master’s final thesis.
The Master’s degree will be awarded upon successful passing of all exams and thesis submission.
