Making Finance Work for Refugees and Host Communities - Training of Trainers

OBJECTIVES This programme helps financial service providers to diversify their product portfolio through serving refugees and host communities, in a strategic and cost-effective manner. It is relevant to institutions that are looking for ways to serve these population groups more effectively, and institutions that have not yet diversified and are seeking guidance on where and how to start. The course is a one-week face-to-face course for middle and high level managers of various types’ financial services providers. The course is also useful for funding agencies and technical assistance providers who are supporting financial inclusion of refugees and the diversification efforts of the FSPs. To ensure availability of trainers delivering the programme in various languages and regions, a dedicated Training of Trainers programme was conducted to build their capacities for quality delivery. 1. Learn the content of the Making Finance Work for refugees and host communities (MFWR) 2. Take part in a dedicated training of trainers on methodology and delivery of the face-to-face edition 3. Practice delivery under supervision of an ILO master trainer or expert in charge 4. Become part of the trainers pool for further delivery of courses organized by the ILO or partners CONTENT • Setting the context • Delivering value • New market development • Understanding market segments • Choosing a target market • Relationship strategy • Product strategy: Key components; Financial services; Non-financial services and the product development process • Communication strategy • Delivery strategy: Key components; Managing risk; Partnerships • Implementing the outreach strategy ACHIEVEMENT Participating trainer candidate has delivered sessions during the TOT in Entebbe under evaluation of the ILO/ITC ILO Master trainer. His/her capacities can be applied to future deliveries of the training programme Making Finance Work for Refugees and Host Communities. The certificate is provided based on completion of Phase 1 and Phase 2 for 63 learning hours.
