Master in Social Innovation for Sustainable Development

This Master challenged students’ current beliefs and assumptions about social innovation, with the aim of developing a renewed understanding of its principles and tools. By recognizing that social innovation extends beyond technology and conventional thinking, students explored the implications of different models and acquired tools and techniques to anticipate change and respond to complex situations in their respective fields. Social innovators are expected to play a crucial role in shaping today’s society and paving the way for eco-social transformation.

CONTENTS and OBJECTIVES

The curriculum combined a distance-learning phase with a two-month face-to-face component, and covered the following core modules:

 

DISTANCE-LEARNING PHASE:

  • MODULE 1: Social innovation, societal challenges and new skills

  • MODULE 2: Social innovation for productive employment and decent work

  • MODULE 3: Social Innovation policies and tools & the contribution to the SDGs

  • MODULE 4: From Public Policies to Social Business: Crafting a Social Innovation Plan

 

FACE-TO-FACE PHASE:

  • MODULE 5: The importance of measuring impact results

  • MODULE 6: Synergising Social Impact Finance and Sustainable Social Innovation

ACHIEVEMENT

The students were required to sit for the following six exams:

  • Social innovation, societal challenges and new skills 

  • Social innovation for productive employment and decent work          

  • Social Innovation policies and tools & the contribution to the SDGs  

  • From Public Policies to Social Business: Crafting a Social Innovation Plan

  • Synergising Social Impact Finance and Sustainable Social Innovation

  • The importance of measuring impact results

 

As part of the third phase of the programme, the students will develop a specific project that will constitute their Master’s final thesis.

The Master’s diploma will be awarded upon successful passing of all exams and thesis submission.

NUMBER OF WEEKS:

Distance Learning: 23 weeks

Face-to-Face: 9 weeks
