ZAMBIA Project - 2.4.1 Fostering a culture of innovation through a participatory mass hackathon

OBJECTIVES Incentivise innovative practices and design thinking approach use to solve the challenges KGRTC is facing. Work collectively in groups to formulate proposal solutions to specific challenges KGRTC is currently facing. Selecting one project for further implementation through the Sesa Project. CONTENT Course content is divided between the online course and the F2F hackathon. During the online course, the content will focus on: Introduction to hackathons, the creation and handling of a core team, involving external stakeholders, defining goals and purposes for a successful hackathon, Ideation and design thinking principles and methodologies, other logistical elements necessary for running a hackathon, the selection and utilization of mentors, process needed for marketing and communication strategy for the selection of participants, motivation elements to keep creativity running, jury selection and criteria generation, implementation, KPIs, social media involvement and post hackathon evaluation methods. During the f2F hackathon, participants will have the possibility to visualize all the online course materials put into practice and get some ad hoc presentations on: Design thinking for innovative solutions, what is innovation and how to put it into practice, and ideation exercises. Through the hackathon participants will go through the process of ideation, brainstorming, prototyping, pitching and more.
