Exploring the Skills Development and Responsible Business Conduct nexus for decent work, just transition and inclusive growth

This intensive, four-day, in-person training program will focus on enhancing the capacity of the participants to effectively advice their organizations on issues related with business, human rights and skills development. It will provide guidance for country level action and dialogue taking into account the different roles of government, employers and workers organizations. OBJECTIVES At the end of the course, participants will have an enhanced understanding of: • The concept of responsible business conduct and the different international frameworks underpinning RBC, including The ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy, including the Operational Tools, Annex II • Labour rights related human rights due diligence as it related to company operations in particular related to the fundamental principles an rights at work. • Skills development and lifelong learning to bolster productivity and adaptability in changing work environments, just transition and the role of RBC. CONTENT Participants will get a chance to deepen their knowledge of the key topics with the guidance of international development experts and to interact with peers and specialists from ILO on: • ILO normative framework and instruments such as the ILO MNE Declaration • Conditions of work • The guidelines on just transition and recent developments in the area of skills development (such as the adoption of the Quality Apprenticeships Recommendation (R208)) • The crucial role of skills development as an enabling factor in addressing environmental and fundamental rights challenges
