Online Training on Minimum Wages for EBMOs

This online training consisted in a series of digital lessons related to the topic of minimum wages in ASEAN economies, with a blend of technical content and hands-on experience. OBJECTIVES Thanks to the course, participants were able to understand the technical nuances of defining and negotiating minimum wages, as well as the link with productivity. CONTENT The topics included in the course are the following: a) Basic concepts: minimum wages, median wages, living wages and poverty lines; b) Defining minimum wages with a regional and sectoral perspective; c) The productivity angle and different productivity measurements; d) Relative wages between economies; e) Relationship between the topic of minimum wage with informality, unemployment and underemployment. ACHIEVEMENT At the end of the course, participants were able to: - Understand minimum wages setting mechanisms in ASEAN economies. - Improve awareness about minimum wages negotiation processes in the region. - Comprehend the link between minimum wages and other relevant economic indicators. - Network with other ASEAN EBMOs’ representatives working on the same topic.
