This course aimed at building the capacity of all relevant stakeholders to identity, measure and assess the effects of interventions (projects, programmes or policies) on employment. In particular, the course imparted the competencies needed to make informed decisions about how to best measure and assess the impact of interventions, including planning and managing the assessments. OBJECTIVES Upon participation, participants: • Have become familiar with the characteristics of the ILO approach to employment impact assessment • Have improved or updated their comprehension of concepts and methods of assessing impacts on employment generated by a wide range of interventions • Have understood the pros and cons of various methods to assess the impact of different interventions • Are able to select the most appropriate method to assess the employment impact of a given intervention • Are able to identify key steps for the planning and management of employment impact assessments. CONTENT • The ILO approach to employment impact assessment • Input-output tables and analysis • Geographic information systems (GIS) • Sectorial identification methods • Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) • Quasi-experiments, • Meta-analysis, among others • Institutionalization of employment impacts assessments.
