Ending violence and harassment in the world of work

This virtual learning experience consists of a step-by-step and in-depth analysis of the contents of ILO Convention No. 190 and Recommendation No. 206, as a way to expand the understanding – and acquire ownership – of the core concepts, principles and approaches when preventing and addressing Violence and Harassment in the World of Work, as well as to explore strategies to apply them in practice. OBJECTIVES • Understand the problem of violence and harassment in the world of work in all its facets; • Review the international human rights framework around the issue in light of recently adopted ILO Convention No. 190 and Recommendation No. 206; • Familiarize with the strategies and provisions contained in these instruments; • Locate yourself in the roadmap towards change laid out by these new instruments and identify entry points towards application of their principles in your own context. CONTENT In this learning journey you explored strategies to end violence and harassment in the world of work, through the lens of ILO Convention no. 190 and Recommendation no. 206. Key topics were: • Key concepts and definitions; • Size and characteristics of problem, globally and regionally; • Causes, risks and vulnerability factors – through a gender lens; • Coverage and scope – who is protected? • Integrated approach to prevention, response and remedies, awareness-raising; • Roles, responsibilities and social dialogue; • Elements of change theory and action-planning.
