DIGITAL LABOUR PLATFORMS

The training was designed to strengthen trade union strategies and actions in promoting workers’ rights and decent work for workers in digital labour platforms. It was carried out in five (5) consecutive weeks, consisting of a series of interconnected learning modules. OBJECTIVES • define and understand the workers’ realities in digital labour platforms, • analyse the weaknesses and policy deficits of current regulatory frameworks, • use ILS, ILO research and other tools to develop policy recommendations and demands, • share and learn successful global, regional, national and sectoral trade union initiatives, • develop priority trade union actions and strategies to address the challenges in digital labour platforms, including capacity-development activities and union-to-union networking for the promotion of decent work for workers in digital labour platforms. CONTENT The course covered four (4) learning modules: • Module 1. Realities and challenges of digital platform work • Module 2. International labour standards and regulatory frameworks on platform work • Module 3. Trade union initiatives and responses. Lessons learned • Module 4: Bipartite social dialogue, representation and ways forward The course consisted of 7 live webinars covering the following themes: • Role of digital labour platforms in transforming the world of work • Promises and perils of AI at work with focus on digital labour platforms • Transparency and accountability of algorithms for workers in DLP • International labour standards and digital labour platforms • Digital Work in Eastern Europe: Overview of Trends, Outcomes and Policy Responses • Collective organizing on digital labour platforms • Strengthening collective bargaining and negotiations for the protection of workers in DLP • Trade Union Initiatives and Responses: Lessons and Insights from the EU The course consisted of 25 hours of synchronous and asynchronous online learning: 7 live webinars, self-guided e-LEARNING modules and eCampus assignments
