

Training of Trainers on ILO Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work for officers of the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal

The activity provided a training space for officers the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal, under the format of a Training of Trainers (ToT), building and developing capacity of these officers to further engage in the defence and promotion of fundamental labour rights under the overall mandate of the NHRC of protecting human rights.
OBJECTIVES
Increase knowledge of the ILO Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, including the relevant fundamental conventions and the 1998 Declaration (amended in 2022);
Improve understanding of the ILO supervisory mechanisms on FPRW, and the linkages with other human rights international instruments;
Raise awareness of the importance of guaranteeing the labour rights of vulnerable groups and in fragile and informal economic contexts in order to achieve the goal of decent work for all;
Strengthen knowledge of training modalities and techniques to share the knowledge acquired during the training.

Day 1. FPRW in a changing world of work
Situation of FPRW worldwide and in Nepal
The five FPRW categories and their interdependent and mutually reinforcing nature: unpacking ILO fundamental conventions
Identifying the underlying root causes of violations to FPRW
Day 2. Challenges for advancing and complying with FPRW
Labour Rights are human rights, linkages between international labour standards and human rights treaties
ILO supervisory mechanisms: detecting gaps in the realization of human rights in the world of work
World Café: stakeholders and rightsholders mapping.
Day 3. The way forward: from regulations and policies to practice
Decent Work and FPRW in supply chains: human rights due diligence workshop
Improved policy formulation and implementation
Wrap-up and conclusions
