The online course focused on development and upgrading of competences of national trade union representatives in the thematic areas of labour migration and domestic work. The course provided participants with knowledge, tools and space for sharing current challenges and good practices in promoting and protecting the rights of migrant and domestic workers at national, sectoral and workplace levels.
It aimed at strengthening EFFAT networks and structures focusing on migrant and domestic workers’ issues.
OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of the course, participants were able to:
• Master the complexity of the phenomenon of labour migration and mobility in Europe;
• Identify and describe priority issues and identify strategies to overcome the obstacles preventing the unions from reaching out to migrant and domestic workers;
• Understand the specificities of domestic work and the achievements linked to the international recognition and protection of domestic workers’ rights;
• Identify the current challenges and risks associated with migration and domestic work;
• Exchange and map the variety of initiatives and best practices in the European context.
CONTENT
The course covered four (4) learning modules:
• Module 1. Migrant and mobile workers;
• Module 2. Domestic workers;
• Module 3. Challenges and vulnerabilities of migrant and domestic workers;
• Module 4: Trade union responses and good practices in organizing.
The course consisted of 24 hours of synchronous and asynchronous online learning: 4 live webinars and ecampus assignments.
