This certification confirms that participants have achieved the following objectives:

  • Developed and applied management and leadership skills to achieve organizational objectives efficiently.

  • Enhanced interpersonal and communication skills to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  • Understood negotiation and conflict management strategies to navigate organizational goals.

  • Practiced team-building models for effective teamwork and acknowledged motivational theories as a key to improve team performance.

CONTENT

I. Distance learning modules

The distance-learning component was conducted via the ITCILO eCampus platform. During this three-week phase, participants were invited to do a personal introspection through thoughtful reflection to gain deeper insights into their own leadership style, strengths and areas for growth. This was supported through a personal journal and a personality test. Participants also had the opportunity to dive into five theoretical pillars in preparation for the following phase when these were further discussed and practiced in class.

II. One-week workshop and the Development Cooperation Academy

The second phase featured a one-week workshop during which participants discussed the different types of leadership styles, key differences and complementarities between leadership and management, necessary skills for effective team coordination, motivational theories, digital leadership and crisis management for organizational resilience. Building up on the theoretical knowledge gained during the first phase, this week allowed participants to discuss the practical applications of key leadership concepts and approaches while also leveraging from their peers’ and their own experiences across different organizations and contexts.

III. Practicum at distance

Following the week-long workshop, participants had a four-week reflection period to develop a personal development plan following the GROW approach to identify their objective, current reality, different options and obstacles to be considered, and finally the way forward to putting this in practice. Given the personal nature of the plan, submission was optional.
