The 2030 Agenda, Decent Work and Social Dialogue

Omar MOUSSA ALI

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calls for increased efforts at all levels to enhance the coherence of social economic and environmental policies. The role and potential of social dialogue are crucial for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and, in particular, SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth. Social dialogue is embedded in the 2030 Agenda. By facilitating, consultation, coordination and negotiation among governments, workers, and employers, social dialogue fosters the enabling environments and policy processes required for achieving the SDGs. It also ensures responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels. The development of this course was made possible through technical and financial input provided by the Global Deal.
