ILO Entrepreneurship Trainers Academy

28 September - 9 October 2020 ILO Entrepreneurship Trainers Academy 2020 offers participants the possibility to become certified trainers in the ILO SIYB training packages. This Online Academy combines intense training of trainers on both content- and methodological issues and it is based on the most recent versions of Generate Your Business Idea (GYB), Start Your Business (SYB) and Improve Your Business (IYB). OBJECTIVES The overall objective of this Academy is to provide its participants with the competencies to become ILO Certified Trainers in SIYB. This process is composed of 3 phases: 1. A preparatory phase. After this phase the participant has acquired the knowledge of the contents of the SIYB training packages. 2. A Training of Trainers phase. After this phase the participant is able to deliver training sessions using the SIYB contents and applying learner-centered methodologies and facilitation techniques. 3. The post Academy assignments. After this phase the participants will be able to promote, organize and deliver workshops using the ILO SIYB training packages The successful conclusion of the three phases eventually leads to the certification of the participants as ILO Certified Trainers in SIYB. The present certificate attests the participation in phases 1 and 2 only. The possible certification as ILO certified Trainers will be given by ILO Master Trainers only after the successful conclusion of phase 3. CONTENT Phase 1 included the technical content of all SIYB user manuals, while phase 2 focused on the delivery of those manuals, including: Generate Your Business Idea (GYB) intended for people who would like to start a business, and who, through the training, develop a concrete business idea ready for implementation. Start Your Business (SYB) for potential entrepreneurs who want to start a small business and already have a concrete business idea. The programme is a combination of training, field work and after-training support, and helps participants assess their readiness to start a business and to prepare a business plan and evaluate its viability. Improve Your Business (IYB) introducing already practising entrepreneurs to good principles of business management. Its six modules (marketing, costing, buying and stock control, record keeping, planning for your business, and people and productivity) can be taught individually or all combined in a full course. The Entrepreneurship Games are an innovative and experiential learning tool for entrepreneurship trainers and educators. The Entrepreneurship Games Card Deck can be used independently or to complement the Start and Improve Your Business Programme. ACHIEVEMENT The level of effort in Phase 1 and 2 of the Academy is estimated at 90 hours of learning, during which the participant: • acquired the technical contents of the SIYB manuals and successfully finalized the assessments of phase 1, • prepared and successfully delivered 2 training sessions that were review by his/her peers and actively participated in phase 2.
