The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has been working with the State of Qatar on a range of initiatives designed to strengthen employment rights, ensure compliance with ratified international labour Conventions and provide a basis for sustained increases in efficiency, productivity and competitiveness.
A key aim of this programme of cooperation is to strengthen national dispute settlement mechanisms and to support the establishment of enterprise level-joint committees. This has also involved working with organisations to develop effective processes for the early resolution of grievances and to build grievance handling capacity.
This new round of training courses is oriented to assess the effectiveness of existing grievance procedures and processes, as well as, reinforce the establishment and management of an integrated conflict management system at the level of the enterprice.
OBJECTIVES
This course aimed to provide the participants with the capacity to:
Actively use effective conflict management approaches.
Apply newly-acquired examination of grievances concepts and techniques
Understand and implement effective processes for the early resolution of grievances
Demonstrate a rebuild grievance handling capacity.
CONTENT
The training sessions covered the following topics:
• Conflict at work
• Sources of rights and obligations.
• What is a grievance? (ILO R130)
• Typical elements of a grievance procedure.
• The content of a typical grievance procedure (ILO R130)
• Assessing and improving the effectiveness of existing grievance handling procedures/Developing new grievance procedures.
ACHIEVEMENT
At the end of the course, participants were able to:
Actively use effective conflict management approaches.
Apply newly-acquired examination of grievances concepts and techniques
Understand and implement effective processes for the early resolution of grievances
Demonstrate a rebuild grievance handling capacity.
