Certification Programme for Green Business Trainers - Yemen

The Certification Programme for Green Business Trainers was an ILO-funded initiative and was coordinated by the Federation of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (FYCCIA). Its aim is to teach business trainers, consultants, and advisors in Yemen on how to best support small businesses in their journey to environmental sustainability.

OBJECTIVES

This programme provided participants with the practical tools and insights to support small and medium enterprises. Participants increased their understanding of:

  • Opportunities for green business: How to support small enterprises to make use of them.

  • Obstacles for green business: How to help small enterprises overcome them.

  • Training and advisory services for green business: How to deliver effective training and coaching to entrepreneurs.

  • Approaches to green entrepreneurship: Which approach fits best for different types of enterprise.

  • Tools to support green entrepreneurship: How to use them effectively with entrepreneurs.

CONTENT

The core programme will be delivered by experts from the ITC-ILO as a combination of webinars and self-guided learning. Participants will be offered:

  • Webinars of 75 minutes (8 webinars in total).

  • Four self-guided learning modules.

ACHIEVEMENT

The programme provided participants with tools and knowledge to effectively train and coach small enterprises that want to sell environmentally friendly products and/ or make their processes more environmentally sustainable. Participants are now able to:

  1. Understand the core concepts of green business and its relevance for SMEs.

  2. Identify key challenges and drivers for small businesses in adopting green practices.

  3. Apply strategies for resource efficiency, cleaner production, and eco-certification.

  4. Deliver effective training to SMEs on implementing sustainable business practices.
