Training on communicating and advocating on decent work and social protection for Syrians under temporary protection and for Turkish citizens

This workshop aims to ensure all participating partners are well versed in the key concepts and principles underpinning the project “Promoting Decent Work for Syrians under Temporary Protection and Turkish Citizens” and that they are able to communicate key messages to different audiences. Participants will also refine the necessary skills to actively advocate for positive change in decent work and social protection in their local context, contributing to the project’s successful implementation. OBJECTIVES Thanks to this workshop, participants will: • Strengthen and consolidate a shared understanding and knowledge of fundamental decent work and social security principles and international standards as well as the ILO’s and the project’s core values among implementing partners and key stakeholders including ILO staff. • Build their knowledge and competencies in communication with a view to improving their outreach activities to strategic partners, the media and beneficiaries, based on their assessment of local needs. • Become agents of change, equipped with the necessary skills and tools to plan and conduct enhanced advocacy efforts towards strategic targets and decision-makers. CONTENT At the end of the training, participants will be able to: - Understand key concepts in communication and advocacy - Know fundamental concepts, principles and values underpinning ILO’s work in decent work and social protection. - Develop effective messages for outreach and advocacy: tailoring messages to core audiences and for different purposes. - Develop an elevator pitch - Work with media: media and interview training - Choose the right advocacy approach NUMBER OF HOURS: 14
