Making the voice of social partners count in UN processes

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action in favour of people, the planet and prosperity, which also intends to strengthen universal peace and access to Justice. In this training programme, participants explored how the 2030 Agenda places decent work and the goal of social justice at the centre of policies for sustainable and inclusive growth and development. The training course looked into UN reform and the mechanisms for implementation of the 2030 Agenda at the country and regional level. Participants also explored ways to strengthen the tripartite alliance and play a leading role in new partnerships that favour the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Caribbean countries and territories. The training programme followed a South-South learning approach. OBJECTIVES The objective of the training programme was to better equip ILO constituents to align their priorities to the Sustainable Development Goals and to contribute to the Decade of Action to achieve the SDGs. At the end of the training programme, participants were able to: • Describe the 2030 Agenda, the linkages with the Decent Work Agenda and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda at a national level. • Play an active role in UN reform processes at country level • Influence UN programming and planning at the country level • Propose and advocate key strategies for workers, employers within the UN framework of cooperation. CONTENT The training programme covered the following main topics: • Decent work and sustainable development • The agenda 2030 and sustainable development • UN Reform • South South and Triangular cooperation • The joint common country assessment • The Multi-Country Sustainable Development Framework
