Build Trade Union Power to Create a Fairer Europe

Build Trade Union Power to Create a Fairer Europe is an EU-funded biannual capacity-building project designed by the EFFAT in partnership with the Programme for Workers’ Activities of the International Training Centre of the ILO. The project aimed to strengthen the capacities of EFFAT affiliates in the domain of inclusiveness and achieve progress in the strategic areas: a. gender equality and diversity; b. migrant and domestic work and c. non-standard forms of employment and platform work. Nine training activities converged in a knowledge sharing and dissemination conference where the most successful practices were showcased and collected for the EFFAT Inclusiveness Compendium describing best practices in trade union inclusion of vulnerable workers in the sectors of agriculture, food, tourism and domestic work, created by the project. OBJECTIVES Upon successful completion of the training activities, the participants are able to: i. Contribute to growing union membership through an inclusive approach ii. Understand and relate to existing instruments, tools, policies and actions to ensure and promote gender equality and diversity iii. Identify priority issues and design strategies to overcome the obstacles preventing the unions from reaching out to migrant and domestic workers iv. Master the complexity of the new forms of employment especially affecting the young workers and workers on digital platforms v. Assess different scenarios for the future of trade unions vi. Assess the impact of climate change on EFFAT sectors and provide inputs into trade union’s just transition strategies vii. Apply foresight strategies, tools and techniques to anticipate future scenarios CONTENT The capacity building project applied a learning journey approach. It consisted of ten complementary training activities implemented online and in presence. During the two years of the implementation of the project, the participant accumulated 60 or more hours of learning by participating in a series of training activities from among ten activities on offer: Phase I – 2021 Distance Learning - Gender Equality and Diversity, 23 March – 16 April Distance Learning – Workers in NSFE and on digital labour platforms, 17 May – 13 June Distance Learning – Migrant and Domestic Workers, 13 September – 8 October Distance Learning – Communication for Inclusiveness, 1-26 November Workshop on Workers in NSFE and on digital labour platforms, Florence, 6-7 December Phase 2 – 2022 Distance Learning – Project Design, 29 February – 28 April Workshop on Gender Equality and Diversity, Madrid, 28-29 March Workshop on Domestic Workers, Brussels, 9-10 May Workshop on Building Trade Union Power in the HRCT-Sector, Zagreb, 31 May – 1 June Final Conference: Build Trade Union Power to Create a Fairer Europe, Turin, 26-28 September ECAMPUS The Action was supported by the E-campus, the education platform of the International Training Centre of the ILO. The platform was used for the distribution of course information, training material, learning tasks, exchanges of good practices and experiences, feedback and multimedia content. ACHIEVEMENT The Certificate of Achievement hereby attests that according to the criteria set by the ITC-ILO the participant successfully completed the training cycle. To be awarded the Certificate of Achievement, the participant had to undergo 60 or more hours of training.
