Consensus-based conflict resolution methods provide effective and timely solutions to labor disputes. While adversarial, rights-based processes remain important, there is increasing recognition of the value of alternative dispute resolution methods such as conciliation/ mediation. These approaches offer several advantages. Firstly, they create opportunities for disputing parties to reach mutually beneficial agreements when direct negotiations have failed. In addition, the intervention of an independent conciliator/mediator helps parties narrow their differences, fostering a more cooperative relationship. Lastly, when parties voluntarily agree on a resolution, rather than having a decision imposed by a third party, they are more likely to comply with the outcome.
