Caring for Equality: Empowering ILO Constituents in Childcare Policies for Gender Equality in Egypt

This course empowered ILO constituents with the knowledge and tools necessary to advocate for and implement transformative care policies, with a focus on early childhood care and education (ECCE) services. Highlighting successful models and emphasizing the economic benefits of investing in care, has created a foundation for a more equitable and inclusive labour market. OBJECTIVES In particular, this course has allowed participants to: • Gain insights into the significance of care work and international labour standards. • Develop strategies for advocating policy change and promoting gender equality through effective ECCE policies. • Acquire an understanding of successful models in ECCE services. CONTENT • Key concepts related to care work and the care economy, international labour standards, and policy advocacy for ECCE services. • ILO’s policy framework for decent work in care work including the 5 Rs: recognize, reduce, redistribute, reward, and represent. • Economic and social benefits of investing in transformative care policies. • An overview of policies, tools actions and good practices to position care work at the core of a future with decent work and gender equality.
