Building a Resilient, Responsive and Effective National Federation of Maldivian Employers (NFME)

The workshop aimed at providing a space for reflection on very important and definitive questions that members and potential members of NFME must be ready to respond, such as: • Where is NFME standing after February 2020, when it was created? • How would success look like for your organization in the mid and long term? • How would your organization know if it has succeeded in being relevant and delivering value to its membership? Have you achieved some success this far? • Do you offer and guarantee “shared” and “transparent” Governance in yours as part of your value proposition? • How could you create value for your membership? • Why would other Business Associations/Companies join organization? • Why don’t they join? What do you need to make them join? • Why would members renew their membership year after year? Why wouldn’t they? • If your organization was an “open” company, would you buy stock and invest in it? Why so? Why not? OBJECTIVES At the end of the workshop, participants have built an Action Plan for Building a Resilient, Responsive and effective National Federation of Maldivian Employers-NFME. This plan will be the main reference for any future technical cooperation assistance request to the ILO/ACTEMP Bureau of Employers’ Activities and ACTEMP ITCILO. CONTENT Participants discussed and agreed on clear objectives, priorities, actions, milestones, KPIs & timelines for the following structural strategic areas of an Employers and Business Membership Organization. SESSION 1: Why is Good Governance important in EBMOs? SESSION 2: Membership Development & Management; it’s about representativeness! SESSION 3: Delivery of Relevant & Quality Services; your value proposition! SESSION 4: Strategic Advocacy & Effective Influencing; positive public policy change! NUMBER OF HOURS: 12 learning hours
