This training aimed to equip Ministry of Health officials as well as health sector trade unions with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective dispute prevention and resolution. OBJECTIVES • This training aims to equip Ministry of Health officials as well as health sector trade unions with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective dispute prevention and resolution. • Provide participants with the skills necessary to understand the conflict dynamic and effective approaches to dispute resolution; • Identify mechanisms such as collective bargaining, grievance handling, and workplace cooperation that can support the effective prevention of labour disputes; • Create a thorough understanding of both the workplace cooperation guidelines and the grievance handling guidelines, in order to facilitate the customization and implementation of these guidelines in a public health setting. • Provide a brief overview of workplace cooperation and grievance handling in line with ILO standards • Get equipped with the skills and tools to apply consensus-based methods of dispute resolution; • Create a mutual understanding of how to relate to each other and lay the basis for sound industrial relations in the health sector. CONTENT This training covered the following topics: 1) Approaches to Conflict Management 2) Dispute prevention mechanisms (I) -collective bargaining- 3) Dispute prevention mechanisms (II) -Workplace cooperation and Grievance handling- 4) Outcomes of negotiation / What is positional bargaining 5) Needs based bargaining/allowing mutual gains
