The academy on Accelerating the Transition from the Informal to the Formal Economy aimed to strengthen the technical capacities of tripartite constituents in LAC countries, to promote the transition from the informal to the formal economy while revamping the spirit of dialogue and knowledge sharing that characterized the first edition of FORLAC (in force between 2013 and 2017 to support the adoption of ILO Recommendation 204). OBJECTIVES The specific learning objectives of the academy were the following: - To strengthen participants' knowledge on the current situation and challenges of the transition to formality in the context of technological change and digitalisation; - To improve participants' capacities for the design and implementation of effective policies, strategies and solutions to promote labour and business formalisation in the region. - To learn about relevant experiences of EU countries and other LAC countries to promote the transition to formality. - To elaborate solutions to promote formalisation, according to their needs. CONTENT - Basic concepts for formalisation, current situation in LAC and R204 - Measurement for the diagnosis, design and evaluation of formalisation policies - Policies to promote economic growth and increase productivity and decent work - Regulatory policies, enforcement and incentives for formalisation - Social dialogue and coordination mechanisms to promote formalisation - Digitalisation and just transition - Relevant experiences of transition to formality in LAC and EU countries - Challenges for women, youth and migrants in the transition to formality NUMBER OF HOURS: 30
