This course enables building owners, users, employers, workers and their representatives to develop a deeper understanding of the fire risk issues and control measures that should be in place, and to help influence a more positive safety culture.
The course is designed to start from basic principles and build up a wide knowledge base regarding the significant risk issues.
OBJECTIVES
Participants have been able to:
Module 1: Fire Safety in buildings
• Improve familiarity with international (and/or local) fire safety guidance, including means of escape
• Understand why effective means of escape are necessary to ensure safe evacuation in the event of a fire
• Improve understanding of what constitutes poor fire safety management.
Module 2: Emergency Action Plans (EAP)
• Understand the importance of an emergency action plan
• Understand what should be included in a fire EAP
• Develop a draft EAP
