Mr. Rafael Mapalo
Asia Pacific Digital Academy on Preventing and Eliminating Violence and Harassment in the World of Work
Ms. Geraldine Grace HOGGANG
26 October - 20 November 2020
The four-week digital academy looked at how trade unions can be supported to address the issue of increasing incidences of violence and harassment in the world of work, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It discussed and promoted the ratification of Convention 190 and Recommendation 206, including campaigning for enabling national legislation and enterprise-level policies. It explored how unions can strengthen workplace protection mechanisms through collective bargaining and by building on existing good trade union practices, and related efforts to address violence and harassment in the world of work.
OBJECTIVES
This regional digital capacity-development event aimed to provide trade union focal points and activists with a better appreciation of C190 and related international labour standards. It also aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of trade unions and provide the tools required to create better, safer and decent working environments -- free from violence and harassment -- for women, men, and young people.
