

Trade Union actions to protect and to promote the inclusion of Workers in Vulnerable Employment Situations for Asia and the Pacific

The course was aimed at promoting inclusiveness in trade union organizations. The course provided the trade unions with the tools to strengthen the voice and visibility to the most vulnerable workers and make the unions more democratic, participatory, inclusive and responsive for all the workers. The course particularly focussed on gig workers, fisher folks, rural & agricultural workers and domestic workers.
OBJECTIVES
The course contributed to the development of sound trade union strategies for responding to the following gaps:
Lack of effective mainstream of diversity in trade unions action and policies.
Challenges regarding gig workers organization
Trade Unions’ involvement in the integration of migrant workers in the labour market
Identifying new organizing strategies to reach most vulnerable groups in fisher folks and rural sector.
Challenges regarding to attract new members, especially among young domestic workers
CONTENT
Week 1: Vulnerable workers typology and regional situation
Week 2: Labour market, social protection and industrial relations policies for formalization, integration and protection
Week 3: TU transformation, special attention to women migrant workers.
Week 4: Action Plan formalization and Course Wrap up and final evaluation.
