Market Systems Development for Decent Work

This training and action planning workshop sought to support Mano River Union and key selected partners in defining practical, evidence-informed potential areas of intervention to support Women Cross Border Trainers using a Market Systems Development approach. OBJECTIVES Objectives: • Increase awareness on the ILO’s approach to market systems and value chain development • Develop an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of market systems development and the main steps in the Market Systems Development project cycle • Understand how Market Systems Development differs from more traditional approaches to private sector development • Explore the key findings of the Market Systems Analysis. • Kick off the design of interventions, based on the potential areas for intervention listed in the Market Systems Analysis. CONTENT The workshop’s content was organized in two areas: on the one hand, it familiarized participants with Market Systems Development. On the other, it supported Mano River Union and key stakeholders in designing interventions based on the results of the Market Systems Analysis. NUMBER OF HOURS: 20
