During the “Market-based livelihoods interventions for refugees and host communities” training programme, the participant has been equipped with tools and guidance to facilitate the economic inclusion of refugees.
OBJECTIVES
Acquire a complete understanding of:
• The market systems framework and its relevance for refugees
• Sector selection criteria for the economic inclusion of refugees
• Market systems analysis, including value chain mapping, market systems constraint analysis
• Push and pull interventions
• Market systems facilitation
• Sustainable business models for market-based livelihoods
• Results chains
CONTENT
The 10-day on-line training programme consisted of (1) core training sessions that conveyed technical content, (2) afternoon webinars that illustrated real life case studies.
The training was delivered by a multi-disciplinary faculty from the ILO, ITC-ILO and UNHCR and combined technical content with applied learning methodologies, such as focus group discussion simulations, mapping exercises and case studies.
ACHIEVEMENTS
The participant has:
• acquired an understanding of the Making Markets work for the Poor (M4P) approach and its relevance for refugees,
• received in-depth technical training to design market-based livelihoods interventions that are economically viable and that comply with refugees' protection needs
• applied good practices from real-life case studies.
