Building Employment Protection in Eswatini: Design, Technical Assessment and Policy Options

This course draws on international expertise to explore the main principles, structures and mechanisms that promote and support policy analysis in key areas of employment protection. This specialized course has been designed for Eswatini with an emphasis on the identification of innovative policy options for employment protection and assessment of financial sustainability. OBJECTIVES • Identify national priority needs for the design and implementation of employment protection programmes in line with ILO Social Security Conventions and good practices; • Enhance understanding of the linkages between unemployment protection, other social protection programmes, macroeconomic policies, labour market, fiscal space and employment promotion policies; • Increase awareness of the economic and financial implications of employment protection programmes; • Improve knowledge of the techniques and actuarial methods used for designing financially sustainable employment protection programmes; • Enhance technical capacity of the feasibility study and policy analysis of employment protection programmes; • Participate more actively in the policy analysis and financing engineering of employment protection programmes.
