EMPLOYERS YOUNG PROFESSIONALS’ ACADEMY 2021

The Employers Young Professionals’ Academy is at its 9th edition and is one of the flagship initiatives of the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), run in collaboration with Business Europe. The strength of the Academy lies in its ability to establish a good network of young professionals across European employers’ organizations, in the upskilling of young and dynamic staff, and in giving a deeper understanding of employers’ role in engaging in social dialogue and negotiation. The impact of the Academy and its effectiveness are ensured by innovative methodologies of training and facilitation and by leveraging new technologies, including the use of virtual reality. OBJECTIVES The objective of the Academy was to strengthen the capacity of young staff of employers’ organizations (EOs) in three core functions: 1. Effective representation of the interests of the EOs’ members; 2. Engagement with social partners in social dialogue, as well as in dialogue with other relevant stakeholders; 3. Identification of the most relevant channels to contribute to economic and social policies. CONTENT The Academy consisted of a combination of different learning activities: • Online platform and training material on the key themes and issues of the Academy, notably on being the voice of employers and business, going for recovery and growth, and engaging as social partners; • Webinars and virtual lessons with key experts; • Online simulations and role playing; • Virtual gatherings and networking events via virtual reality.
