E-Learning Lab on Digital TVET - Integrating a virtual campus in the TVET offer

5 - 30 October 2020 ITCILO organizes this specially designed Lab for TVET specialists, managers and teachers of TVET centres in order to sustainably improve TVET Centres’ overall distance learning capacity and trainers’ skills to lead e-Learning delivery in TVET. The course is centred on instructional design models and strategies, reflecting state of the art approaches with a focus on technologies increasing TVET users’ engagement, on developing e-assessment tools and on how to ensure quality in distance and online learning. OBJECTIVES • Understand the institutional benefits of a national platform and explore opportunities for blended TVET learning delivery methods: o Understand the opportunities and challenges of owning a national virtual platform for TVET as part of a national approach to digitalisation; o Define how to go towards a balanced blended training offer. • Identify key features in transferring a TVET curriculum into a blended training offer and discover innovative and technology enhanced training methodologies: o Re-designing an existing TVET course for blended training delivery; o Explore flexible and individualized digital training models; o Using AR as a tool for innovative blended learning. • Familiarize with AR/VR related opportunities in the TVET learning ecosystem: o Familiarize with the opportunities of immersive and simulated learning; o Understand how VR can be applied to the acquirement of soft and technical skills. • Understand how to organize e-assessment in digital learning and explore how quality assurance management systems can be built in regards to digital TVET: o Identify frameworks and techniques for assessment in digital TVET courses; o Understand the main features and trends of quality assurance in digital learning CONTENT o Module 1: Virtual campus and blended learning o Module 2: Curriculum transfer for blended TVET o Module 3: Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in TVET o Module 4: E-assessment and Quality Assurance ACHIEVEMENT Number of hours : 30 hours The course was composed of four modules and each module ran for one week, with synchronous and asynchronous learning and experience-sharing moments. Specific webinars with international experts were also offered throughout the course. Participants were provided with the opportunity to learn from any location, at any time of the day. The course was highly interactive and engaging, participants were asked to discuss different issues in forums and complete a final project on innovative approaches to TVET.
