Sustainable Procurement Online Training Course for the World Bank

OBJECTIVES The objective of this workshop is to contribute to improved capacity in the conceptualization and implementation of environmental and social considerations in procurement, in line with internationally accepted principles and practices. The following topics are addressed: • definition and key concepts for sustainable procurement; • the potential of sustainable procurement for promoting sustainable development and realizing its benefits; • international regulatory framework for sustainable procurement, including • international environmental and labour conventions/agreements • international trade agreements and regional economic integration schemes • national frameworks for sustainable procurement; • products/services prioritization strategies at the organizational level; • the integration of sustainability considerations in the procurement cycle: procurement planning, requirement definitions, use of eco and social labels, sourcing, standard bidding documents, evaluation and awards LCC and LCA and compliance monitoring; main barriers and opportunities for sustainable procurement; • action plans for the implementation of SP at organizational levels; • the role of the civil society and the private sector. • Gender responsive procurement • Various cases studies: Sustainable procurement in practice CONTENT Introduction to Sustainable Public Procurement Project context analysis – Environmental Project context analysis – Social Strategic management and planning –Environmental Risk management - Eco and Social labelling Risk management – Environmental Contract management: Focus on Gender, Diversity and Inclusion in procurement Sustainable procurement in practice Monitoring and Evaluation NUMBER OF HOURS: 22
