


Training I: EU legal framework on EWCs and International Labour Standards

This two-week online training activity consisted of two modules: i. EU legal framework on EWCs and ii. ILO and International Labour Standards. It included live webinars, self-guided e-learning modules, videos, InfoStories, reading assignments and peer-to-peer forum discussions.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the module 1.1, the participant was able to:
articulate a clear understanding of EWCs and their significance within the EU legal framework.
demonstrate comprehension of the operational mechanisms and functions of EWCs.
apply knowledge gained from exploring European Works’ Council Directive 2009/38/EC to analyse its implications on workplace dynamics.
evaluate the diverse array of benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of EWCs.
synthesize acquired knowledge to critically assess the role of EWCs in promoting cross-border cooperation and employee representation within multinational corporations.
At the end of the module 1.2, the participant was able to:
Understand the history, mission, and key functions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), emphasizing its role in promoting social justice and decent work globally.
Understand the process of developing international labour standards (ILS) through tripartite consensus and their importance in regulating labour issues across countries.
Explore the ILO’s core conventions that establish the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and understand how these principles aim to promote social justice, fair globalization, and poverty alleviation.
Examine the ILO’s Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration) and its significance for encouraging responsible business practices.
